A message that says “best price 12R22.5” is not a strong inquiry. It forces the supplier to guess the application, quality level, loading plan and destination. A clear inquiry gets a clearer answer and reduces the chance of quoting the wrong tire.

This matters in 2026 because freight routes, rubber prices and destination requirements can all change the real landed cost. UNCTAD has tracked maritime transport disruption and rerouting pressure, while the World Bank’s April 2026 commodity outlook forecasts higher TSR20 rubber prices than 2025. A vague quote is not enough for serious import planning.

The Minimum Details

Detail Example Why it matters
Tire size 315/80R22.5, 12.00R20, 23.5-25 Confirms product category and loading plan
Application Long haul, quarry, port, mining, regional transport Guides pattern and casing choice
Quantity 100 pcs, 1 container, trial order Affects price, production and container planning
Destination Lagos, Mombasa, Almaty, Tashkent Affects freight, documents and delivery route
Photos Sidewall, vehicle, machine, worksite Reduces size and application mistakes

Send The Tire Size And Structure

The size is the starting point, but structure is often just as important. A buyer asking for 12.00R20 usually needs tube type direction. A buyer asking for 315/80R22.5 usually needs tubeless direction. If you are not sure, send a clear sidewall photo.

For OTR tires, the sidewall photo helps confirm size, ply rating and pattern direction. For TBR tires, it helps avoid confusion between similar-looking size names.

Explain The Work

Long-haul highway use, regional mixed roads, quarry support and port yard work need different tires. A cheaper quote that ignores the application can become expensive after complaints, early wear or casing damage.

Use simple words. For example: “Lagos regional delivery, mixed road, overloaded trucks” is more useful than a long technical message with no route detail.

Do Not Hide Quantity And Destination

Some buyers avoid sharing quantity because they want a low price first. In practice, quantity affects the loading plan, production schedule and quotation level. Destination also affects documents and freight direction.

If it is a test order, say so. If it is one container, say so. A serious supplier can then give a practical answer instead of a generic price.

A Good Inquiry Template

Copy this format: tire size, tube type or tubeless, application, axle position, quantity, destination port, expected order time, required documents and photos if available.

Example: “315/80R22.5 tubeless drive tire, long-haul and regional transport, 200 pcs, Lagos destination, need quote with loading plan and estimated production time.”
